Petropavlosk's consistent and focused strategy since its inception in 1994 is based around the core strength of low-cost mining assets, developed in-house from greenfield sites to producing operations.

An emphisis on assets, team and skills and technology and innovation allied to a strong efficiency drive and rising production has led to increased profitability and laid the foundations for sustainable future development and shareholder generation.

Assets

The Group has portfolio of c.125 licences in ten prospective regions of Russia incorporating a number of low development cost deposits with a series of promising exploration targets to sustain growth in the long term.

Location

The Group's key assets are located in the Amur Region and EAO in the Russian Far East, bordering China. The Amur Region, roughly the size of Belgium, boasts excellent infrastructure and an accessible energy supply. Lying across the middle section of one of the world's major belts of mineralization, it has a long history of gold mining with gold being mined there since 1867. In recent years, the region has become one of leading Russian gold mining regions with total annual production of over 20 tonnes in 2009.

Team and skills

Excellent local knowledge combined with a strong management team and a dedicated workforce provide the Group with a comprehensive talent pool to choose from which is supplemented by Petropavlovsk's long-standing programme of support of regional education.
