Social and ecological responsibility are at the heart of the Group. Petropavlovsk recognises that operating in a safe and responsible manner will ensure that its business is respected at a local level, federal level and by the investment community worldwide. The Group takes compliance with Russian health and safety and environmental legislation seriously and is seeking to go beyond this by bringing its projects in line with international best practice.

The Group seeks to ensure that its workforce feel valued and respected through the provision of first-rate facilities and safe and comfortable working conditions. It is committed to supporting local educational institutions, providing its operations with a suitably qualified workforce and allowing individuals to reach their personal full potential.

Petropavlovsk is committed to impoving the quality of life within the regions where it operates. The Group has given financial support to health services and children's homes and has sponsored a variety of causes promoting sports and culture in the region.

Going forward

The ongoing alignment of Group EHS procedures to reflect international good practice will lead to the introduction of risk-based environmental management practices to supplement existing compliance-based approaches.  This will enable environmental risks and issues to be managed in a more pro-active manner, reflecting the increasing size and scale of Group operations.
