Pokrovskiy - Overview
Pokrovskiy is an open-pit gold mine located in the western part of the Amur region, approximately 10km from the nearest station on the Trans-Siberian railway and 35km from Pioneer.
The first gold was recovered from Pokovskiy in 1999. Since then, the more than 1.6Moz have been recovered from Pokrovskiy. Although it is now a maturing asset, its 2010 full year production of 144,900oz still places it amongst the largest producing gold mines in the Amur region in terms of annual production.
Pokrovskiy has excellent infrastructure and facilities, including an electricity supply, roads, heating plant, laboratory, accommodation, canteen and offices. It is equipped with a comprehensive mining fleet, including trucks, bulldozers, shovels and drill rigs.
