Malomir - Mining and Processing
Mining at Malomir is conducted by open-pit methods. Currently, non-refractory ore is being processed from the Quartzitovoye deposit at Malomir by an on-site resin-in-pulp (“RIP”) plant.
The Group commissioned the RIP processing plant in two phases. The first phase, in August 2010, had a design capacity of 0.7Mtpa expanding to 1.2Mtpa in July 2011. Both phases were commissioned on-schedule by the Group’s in-house specialists, notwithstanding Malomir’s remote location. Following improvements implemented between November 2011 and February 2012, plant capacity increased further to 1.7Mtpa.
The Group is constructing a flotation plant at Malomir to process refractory ore from the Malomir and Ozhidaemoye ore bodies. The plant will be constructed in three stages with a final design capacity of 6.0Mtpa. The first flotation line is expected to be commissioned in mid-2012. The resultant flotation concentrate will be sent to Pokrovskiy where the Group is installing a pressure oxidation facility to process and recover gold from the concentrates. More information on this facility can be found here.
