Queen's Enterprise Award

Queen's Enterprise Award

Peter Hambro Mining Plc has been granted the Queen's Award For Enterprise for the years 2006 to 2011 due to the Company's outstanding success in international trade. It has been granted to the Company for increasing overseas revenue more than threefold to £45 million in three years.

Locations

The Group's gold and iron-ore mining assets are located in Russia, a country with a 250-year history of gold mining. This long mining tradition has favoured the development of technical expertise within the country that is still prevalent today. New technology has allowed Russian companies, such as Petropavlovsk, to increase mining and processing efficiencies.

Russia is currently second in the world in terms of estimated gold reserves.

The Russian legal framework for mining companies includes royalty taxes on mining and minerals extraction, environmental requirements and a high degree of scrutiny from governments at all levels. This provides a tightly regulated but fair environment for companies to explore, develop and generate high returns from their assets.

Petropavlovsk's main operations are located in the Amur Region and EAO (Evreyskaya Avtonomnaya Oblast or Jewish Autonomous Region) in the Russian Far East, close to the board with China. The Group has several exploration projects in various regions of Russia at different stages of exploration and development.
